Accent on Quilting is the result of a long journey starting in Fort Lauderdale FL, going to Pass Christian MS and ending here, in Orange City FL.
In 1997 offering fabrics was not even considered. We began this journey making and selling sewing organizers. They were made of wood and we offered 4 sizes. We sold them at quilt shows. To add a little "zing" to our booth we decided to buy a "few bolts" of fabric and add fat quarters. Well, that is all it took! Giving a fabricoholic access to all those beautiful collection was the beginning of this shop. Our first fabric order included over 200 bolts! This lead to the opening of a small studio. In 2002 we decided that we needed to be more centrally located as we were doing shows everywhere. We purchased a small quilt shop in Pass Christian MS. This was a great time for us. We met so very many wonderful people and if you love to eat, there is no place better than the Gulf Coast for wonderful food. In August of 2005 a "lady" named Katrina came to visit. Although her visit only lasted a few hours, when she left town she left behind no town. Everyone knows about New Orleans, but the destruction on the Mississippi Gulf Coast was much, much worse. We stayed for about 6 months, then decided to head back to Florida. This time in Central Florida. Orange City became home in May, 2006.
We made a decision not to open another quilt shop but to retire. Well...that was boring! So we compromised and just opened a website. After out growing our space we found this fabulous little shop and opened in 2010.
The journey has taken many twists and turns. We have made many good friends along the way, made lots of beautiful quilts and we are looking forward to continuing on our path. Ain't life fun!!
